Asami Tashiro is a Shinto priestess in Soma. She and her family help run the annual Soma-Nomaio festival, which has been held here for more than a thousand years. In 2011, almost no one came, but Asami hoped they would return. The next year, more than 400 horse owners came back, as did 45,000 tourists.<br />
