Sunset at Lunch Counter on Mt. Adams. Writer Davy Rothbart attempts to summit 12,276-foot Mt. Adams, the second-highest peak in Washington state. On the first day of the hike he started at Cold Springs trailhead (elevation 5560 ft.) and climbed up Crescent Glacier to Lunch Counter, a popular camping spot at 9,000 ft. with views of Mt. Hood to the south and Mt. St. Helens to the west. <br />
